Mary Queen of Scots was born in Linlithgow in Palace in 1542 and she spent the first seven months of her life living there. Mary Queen of Scots is renowned worldwide but a lesser-known fact is that she had 4 ladies in waiting and they were all called Mary! Talented and loyal, they attended Mary with flair and character and they have been the inspiration for this series of spirits. Each spirit has a unique recipe that reflects the character of the Mary it is named after.

Mary Fleming - Four Marys Lime & Yuzu Gin
Mary Fleming, ‘the lively one' was renowned for her dazzling presence and skills in entertaining the Court with music and dance, attracting many would-be suitors along the way. She was the inspiration for our Indian Lime & Yuzu Gin.
Distilled using Kaffir Lime Leaves, Yuzu Peel and Star Anise alongside Juniper, Coriander and Angelica to create the experience of an old-fashioned sherbet fountain in a glass! The gin leaves the still at London Dry quality and there is nothing added to this gin after it comes out of the still, the sherbet experience is all created by the clever mix of
botanicals and, in particular, the Yuzu which is a Japanese citrus fruit.
Mary Livingston - Four Marys Vodka
Mary Livingston, 'the bonny one’ was full of spirit and joyous in her approach to life. A skilled horsewoman, she would ride, hunt and hawk with Mary and her nobles - indulging her lusty outdoor nature.
Here at Linlithgow Distillery we don’t like to waste anything and so we decided to create our Vodka using the by-products of our gin distilling process. We take the unwanted parts of the distillation and put them through our rectification column still which produces pure 96% alcohol. We then run that spirit back through the pot still and what we get is a quadruple distilled vodka that is clean fresh and pure.
Mary Seton - Four Marys Spiced Rum
Mary Seton, 'the devoted one’ remained committed to Mary through most of her incarceration, leaving only when her illness dictated it. She was behind Mary’s daring escape from Loch Leven Castle and remained forever faithful to her memory.
A spiced rum with a Caribbean heart and a Scottish soul.
We have partnered with a Scottish Rum Distillery to make a base white rum for us, we then re-distil the base twice through our own stills to refine the smoothness of the spirit and achieve the right level of molasses that we want.
On the second distillation we add in our chosen spices including ginger, nutmeg, lime, mango, vanilla pods and toasted Sichuan pepper.
Mary Beaton - Four Marys Single Malt Whisky
Mary Beaton, ‘the canny one’ was sweet and delicate in appearance with a sharp intelligence that took some by surprise. She often advised Mary on matters of court, her subtlety and shrewdness striking a perfect balance.
Our first venture into independent whisky bottling sees our journey start with a rare 13 year old Linkwood Single Malt Scotch Whisky which has been matured in an
Oloroso Sherry hogshead. The colour and layers of flavour in this whisky are astounding and are a real treat for the senses.
